BANGALORE: A woman was killed and two were injured when a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus went out of control near Azad Chowk in Chamarajpet on Tuesday night. Following the accident, residents of the area hurled stones at passing BMTC buses. Four buses were damaged in the incident, the police said. Around 7.30 p.m. Chennamma (35) of Pattegaraplaya and her husband, Shivasheshaiah, were waiting for a bus at the Azad Chowk bus stand. A BMTC bus (route number 219), hit Chennamma and the two others who were also waiting for a bus. While Chennamma was killed on the spot, the others, a girl and a boy, were seriously injured. The Central police seized the bus and arrested the driver, Narayanaswamy.
Weapons found
A bag containing two swords and two knives was found abandoned on Mudaliar Street at M.V. Garden in Ulsoor police station limits on Tuesday night. After the residents of the area informed the police, the staff of the Bomb Detection Squad, along with sniffer dogs, rushed there and checked the bag. They found the four weapons in it, the police said. The Ulsoor police are investigating to whom the weapons belonged.
Stolen
Electronic gadgets and Rs. 2.48 lakhs in cash were stolen from a home appliances showroom in 3rd Block, Jayanagar, on Monday night. The police suspect that someone had stayed back in the shop after it was closed on Monday night and had stolen the cash and the electronic goods. The Jayanagar police have registered a case on a complaint by Manjunath, the manager of the showroom.
