Protest over fee hike
THE AIDSO has expressed its resentment against what it alleged, was a "staggering" increase in tuition fees for postgraduate medical and dental courses in all government colleges from this academic year. In a statement, the AIDSO said: "A whopping sum of Rs. 50,000 as fees for the clinical PG medical and dental courses which is an increase of 1,000 per cent over previous years' fees not only destroys the aspirations of thousands of poor and meritorious students by pushing them out of medical and dental education, but also commercialise even government-run professional institutions. This also exposes the Government's anti-student and anti-education approach." The AIDSO demanded that the Government immediately withdraw its fee hike.
