Back Prices static as buyers lie low

THE domestic spot rubber prices closed almost unchanged on Friday. Most of the buyers were keeping a low profile waiting for a clear trend to set in.

Producers are optimistic about another uptrend based on weather predictions. Scattered over night rains did not create any impact in the market and sheet rubber closed static at Rs 63.50 at Kottayam but was up by 25 paise to Rs 63.75 a kg at Kochi following better demand at lower levels.

NMCE rubber futures maintained a firm trend. Volumes were on a low key. June contract was quoted at Rs 63.65 (Rs 63.43), July at Rs 63.88 (Rs 63.71); August at Rs 61.85 (Rs 61.81) for RSS 4 and September at Rs 59.60 (Rs 59.50) a kg for RSS 4.

Spot rubber a kg were: RSS-4: Rs 63.50 (Rs 63.50); RSS-5: Rs 61.50(Rs 61.50); ungraded: Rs 59.75 (Rs 59.75); ISNR 20: Rs 59.75 (Rs 59.75); and latex 60 per cent: Rs 40.50 (Rs 40.50).
