Back Fake marks-card racket busted; five arrested

THE Dakshina Kannada District Crime Intelligence Bureau busted a fake marks-card racket here on Thursday and arrested five persons, including three women, in this regard.

Addressing newspersons here on Friday, the Superintendent of Police, Mr Soumendu Mukherjee, said police have seized fake marks-cards and certificates of various universities and technical education institutions and equipment used for their printing.

Stating that the racket was in operation in Mangalore for the past two years, Mr Mukherjee said the arrested persons were supplying the fake marks-cards and certificates to those going abroad in search of jobs. Screen-printing technology was used in printing these fake documents.

Around Rs 1,000 was charged for printing a document and it was sold in the range of Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000 in the market, depending on the demand for the particular document, he added.
