Back Robot for heart surgeries

HYDERABAD: Care Hospitals in Hyderabad has acquired a surgical robot called daVinci system, to step up its capabilities in heartcare. It would be the second such system in the country, with a New Delhi hospital already having one, the hospital claimed.

Dr Gopichand Mannam, Chief Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Care and a few of his colleagues got trained on the robotic equipment, which would further simplify complex surgical procedures of the heart. The Hospital used the robotic equipment to conduct a bypass surgery on a 72-year old man recently.
