Meet to contain naxalism today

HYDERABAD: The Chief Secretaries, Directors' General of Police and intelligence officials of 13 naxalite-affected States will attend a meeting convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs here on Friday to review the overall naxalite menace.

Besides Andhra Pradesh, the States represented at the meeting include West Bengal, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Orissa, Uttaranchal, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala.

A senior police official said the meeting will be presided by the Union Home Secretary, V.K. Duggal. Intelligence Bureau Director, E.S.L. Narasimhan, would also be present.
