Youth killed in accident

BANGALORE: Nikhil Rao (27), a resident of Padmanabhangar, was killed when a multiutility vehicle hit his motorcycle near Anandanagar Cross in R.T. Nagar traffic police station limits on Thursday.

Police said the accident occurred when Nikhil Rao was on his way to Parikrama School in Sahakaranagar.

He used to conduct free classes for poor students. The R.T. Nagar traffic police have registered a case .

Engineer arrested

The J.P. Nagar police have arrested a hardware engineer on charges of cheating and recovered from him a scooter and a motorcycle, together worth Rs. 64,000.

The police gave his name as Suresh alias Lokesh Raju (30), resident of Kalappa Block in Srinagar. The police said that in April K.N.H. Chandru, an advocate and a resident of J.P. Nagar, advertised in a magazine that he was selling his scooter. Suresh approached Mr. Chandru as a buyer and allegedly drove away on his scooter for a trial. But he did not return, the police said.

In a similar manner, Suresh had allegedly made away with a motorcycle. The accused had reportedly changed the number plates of the vehicles.

Two arrested

The Commercial Street police have arrested two youths who had applied for the post of airmen in the Indian Air Force by submitting fake documents.

The police gave the names of the arrested as Tajveer Singh (20) of Bharathpur in Rajasthan and Mohit Kumar (19) of Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
