Letters to the Editor
The recent save-Tamil drive by some parties of Tamil Nadu will harm the future of the entire State. Listening to politicians, a whole generation of Tamils lost the edge by boycotting Hindi and now the same fate awaits them on English. Let us not hear, read or follow any such misplaced advice.
R.C. Madar,
* * * A section of misled youths boycotted Hindi at the behest of politicians and paid the price. Now another group is misleading the youth on English. The only people who benefit from such agitations are politicians who go to any extent to further their vested interests.
Sundaramoorthi Nakkiran,
* * * India is a forerunner in information technology. This is because of Indians' knowledge of English. Rajaji said many years ago that the English language is the window to the whole world. Today, Japan and China are actively promoting English to compete with India. It is nobody's case that regional languages should be neglected. But English should not be discarded.
A.V.A. Eswaran,
* * * The love of our politicians for Tamil is commendable. But once we or our children go out of the State on personal tour or study, the problem starts. Unless we know English or Hindi, we cannot survive even in India not to speak of foreign countries.
