Back AP to distribute more land

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government would take up the second leg of land allotment on July 30, in which one lakh acres of Government land will be given away to eligible and needy families.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said all the Collectors/Joint Collectors should take steps to issue patta certificates to beneficiaries along with Pattadar passbook, title deed, and other relevant documents.

He also directed the officials to ensure that 50 per cent of beneficiaries belonged to scheduled castes and tribe categories and to provide economic assistance under DRDA, Indira Prabha and other related schemes to make the land cultivable.

In the first phase of land distribution that took place on January 26, 2005, a total of 1.55 lakh acres of Government land was distributed among 1.12 lakh landless poor at an average of 1.2 acre per head, an official release said.
