Heavy wind prevents cloud-seeding

Staff Reporter

ANANTAPUR: Unfavourable weather conditions prevented cloud-seeding operations in Rayalaseema for a third day in a row on Thursday. The staff of the radar station here said the heavy wind speed was disintegrating the seedable clouds by the time the aircraft reaching the location of the clouds.

After noticing seedable clouds in the region an aircraft from Jakkur airbase near Bangalore flew for about two-and-half hours on Thursday over Anantapur, Guntakal and Pulivendula areas. But, by the time the aircraft reached the location of the seedable clouds they were found disintegrated due to heavy wind.

The cloud seeding agency had a similar experience on Wednesday. On the first day of the operations on Tuesday they did not notice any seedable clouds but the aircraft had made a symbolic flight.
