Fast track court opened in Medchal

Acting Chief Justice for speedy disposal of cases

HYDERABAD: The acting Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh High Court, Bilal Nazki, said that while speedy and quality justice was the responsibility of the judiciary, more courts have to be sanctioned for the purpose.

Inaugurating a fast track court building at Medchal on Thursday, Mr. Nazki pointed out that courts were overburdened with 62,708 cases pending in Ranga Reddy district alone.

There were only 32 judges in the district and each judge had to tackle 2,000 cases each which was "highly impossible practically and intellectually".

With increasing population there were more disputes and litigations, he said, according to a press release. The police too were in a similar situation and there was need for an independent agency for effective inquiry into criminal cases.

The Cyberabad Police Commissioner, P. Mahender Reddy, said the district topped in the number of criminal cases in the State. Several judges, the district Collector, L. Prema Chandra Reddy, the Medchal's Bar Association President, B. Chakrapani, and others participated.
