Back NCDEX makes over 1.10 lakh t deliveries in Q1

NATIONAL Commodity & Derivatives Exchange Ltd (NCDEX) has created a new record with deliveries of over 1,10,000 tonnes in various commodities made on its platform during the first quarter (April-June) of 2005-06.

In June 2005 alone, deliverables are expected to be over 36,000 tonnes. The deliveries in May touched 44,909 tonnes as against 28,301 tonnes in April.

The exchange would witness the highest-ever deliveries in a single month till date in pepper (756 tonnes), chana (230 tonnes) and jeera (2,697 tonnes).

Deliveries would be made in 18 commodities. Most of them showed a high delivery to open interest ratio. In jeera and urad, the ratio was almost 100 per cent, while it was very high in castor seed, guargum, sugar and pepper. For the first time, lemon tur of 7,310 tonnes was delivered on the exchange platform, an NCDEX release said.

Major delivery centres were Unjha (Jeera), Mumbai (Urad and Tur), Kadi and Deesa (castor seed), Jodhpur (guarseed and gum), Kolkotta, Delhi and Vashi (sugar), Kochi (pepper) and Khanna and Indore (wheat).

Major commodities in which deliveries took place in June were sugar M-30 (12,810 tonnes), urad (7.997 tonnes), guar gum (940 tonnes), jeera (2,697 tonnes), castor (1,270 tonnes), pepper (756 tonnes) and sesame (10 tonnes).
