Back AP: Investment proposals pegged at Rs 17,609 cr Our Bureau
Hyderabad , June 24 THE State Government received investment proposals to the tune of Rs 17,609 crore, from 339 large and medium industries during the financial year 2004-05. In addition to these, about 68 investment proposals from 46 units with an investment of Rs 1,810 crore have gone into production. Under the small-scale industry and tiny sector, 632 units were permanently registered with an investment of Rs 266.12 crore. These were some of the highlights presented by officials at the State Investment Promotion Board meeting, chaired by the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Friday. Dr Reddy asked the officials of AP Transmission Corporation to offer quality and reliable power and also reduce power interruptions. The CM instructed officials to take steps to make the single window scheme for industries more convenient to investors. The cases of Panyam Cements, Sanghi Polysters and SJK Steels for concessions were discussed, according to an official press release. A total of 2,052 large and medium industries have been set up in the State with an investment of Rs 56,697.74 crore. And 5,22,637 have been provided employment. In the SSI sector, 1,45,608 industries have been permanently registered with an investment of Rs 4,736.77 crore, with employment to 13,11,399, the release said.
