Back AP to renew accident cover

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government has decided to renew `Apathbandhu', the accident insurance scheme, for one more year commencing from October 2, 2005 in favour of ICICI Lombard.

According to an official release, the insurance company has also agreed to renew the policy with the same terms and conditions covering 4,000 cases at a premium of Rs 15 crore per year.

The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, reviewed the scheme here on Friday. For the last three years, the State has paid Rs 12 crore annually for covering 3,200 cases.

Dr Reddy has agreed to sanction `Apathbandhu' assistance to the dependents of deceased of over and above the targeted 4,000 cases from the Chief Minister's Relief Fund in future, the release said.
