Back CII for promoting `Monsoon Tourism' Our Bureau
New Delhi , July 3 INDIA's share in global tourism is hovering only at 0.40 per cent, according to a paper prepared by the Confederation of Indian Industry. The paper suggests that there is an urgent need to look at ways to increase this figure in consonance with the size and variety that India has to offer to the world. The paper adds that extending the tourist season could perhaps be one of the means to increase this share. Therefore, CII has mooted the idea of promoting `Monsoon Tourism'. "Tourist arrivals are high from October to March but dip during the monsoon months. This could be addressed by focussing on the off-season months in a strategic manner.".
