NEW DELHI: Weathermen on Sunday forecast that rainfall over Gujarat could decrease over the next two to three days. There are, they said, however, indications that the break may be short as there could be a fresh spell of heavy rain in the State from July 7 or 8. Speaking to The Hindu, scientists at the India Meteorological Department said the rainfall over the peninsula, comprising Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, would remain subdued over the next two to three days, even as there could be an increase in rains over Delhi and other parts of north India, including Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab. There could, they said, also be some slight improvement in rainfall activity over the northeast during the next two to three days and that there could be an increase in rainfall over Orissa, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh from July 6. In Madhya Pradesh, rainfall may continue to be good over the northern part of the State, but become subdued over the southern part. Rainfall was also likely to be subdued over Maharashtra and Bihar over the next three to four days.
