Dandi Mariyappa passes away in Bellary

BELLARY: Dandi Mariyappa, a prominent member of the Veerashaiva Vidyavardhak Sangha, which runs a chain of educational institutions in the district, and the former Principal of Veerashaiva College, died here on Thursday. He was 90.

Mr. Mariyappa played an active role in establishing educational institutions throughout the district.

He also served as a member of the Karnatak University Syndicate before the establishment of Gulbarga University.

He is survived by two sons.

Mr. Mariyappa was active in public life .

Several members of the sangha have condoled his death.
