Pradeep scripts Thiruvarur's win

CHENNAI: M. Pradeep (seven for 5) was instrumental in Thiruvarur scripting a 109-run win over Pudukottai in the TNCA-Sumeru Soft P.R. Thevar Trophy inter-district under-17 cricket tournament at the Hindu College ground here on Thursday.

At Karur, Kevin Sukumaran's splendid all-round display helped Kancheepuram thrash Ramanathapuram. Kevin and R. Karthik returned identical figures of three for nine each to bundle out Ramanathapuram for a paltry 78 in 36.4 overs. Kancheepuram raced to victory as it reached 82 for three in just 26.2 overs with Sukumaran remaining unbeaten on 34.

In the other match of the day, Salem defeated Karur by nine wickets, with the V. Saravanan playing a captain's knock of 52 not out in just 45 balls. Electing to bat, Karur folded up for 93 in 26.3 overs with Amit Singh capturing four for 25. In reply, Salem notched up 97 for one in just 13.3 overs.

At Theni, R.M. Lakshmannarayan's 89 and his 129-run fourth-wicket partnership with M.P. Saravanakumar (75) helped Theni defeat Tuticorin by 127 runs.

At Namakkal, Tirunelveli and Tiruvannamalai scored easy wins over their respective opponents.

At Tiruchi: Tiruchi 89 in 27.2 overs (Godwin Antony Vogt 33, K. Prashanth three for 25) lost to Villupuram 92 for three in 16.5 overs (A. Sameer Khan 37 not out).

Erode 98 in 25.4 overs (V.V. Prithviraj five for 28) lost to Virudhunagar 100 for four in 15.5 overs (Rajkumar 36).

At Karur: Ramanathapuram 78 in 36.4 overs (Kevin Sukumaran three for nine, R. Karthik three for nine) lost to Kancheepuram 82 for three in 26.2 overs (Kevin Sukumaran 34 n.o.).

Karur 93 in 26.3 overs (Amit Singh four for 25) lost to Salem 97 for one in 13.3 overs (V. Saravanan 52 n.o.)
