Back Air Deccan plans to extend service to Tuticorin Our Correspondent
Madurai , July 10 AIR Deccan is planning to extend its Chennai-Madurai service to Tuticorin from August. The airport situated at Vagaikulam, 15 km away from Tuticorin is being readied for operation of commercial flights. According to sources, the ATR-43 model aircraft with a capacity to carry 48 passengers, operated now between Chennai and Madurai would be extended to Tuticorin. The sources further said that there is a possibility of a private flying training academy being set up at Tuticorin in the next three months with four Cessna-152 model training aircraft. There are also plans for starting regional air services connecting Tuticorin with Thiruvananthapuram, Coimbatore etc., the sources added.
