Back Malaprabha Grameena Bank bags award for SHG scheme Our Bureau
Mangalore , July 14 THE Dharwad-based Malaprabha Grameena Bank, a regional rural bank sponsored by Syndicate Bank, has covered 80,000 families under self-help groups (SHGs) in its area of operation, according to Mr B.S. Surendra, Chairman of the grameena bank. Receiving the `best performance award' for SHG-bank linkage from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) in Bangalore recently, he said the bank proposes to credit link 4,600 more SHGs during the current financial year. A bank release said here on Thursday that it has delved deeply into micro-credit with total involvement in formation and credit-linkage of SHGs. During 2003-04, it provided credit linkage to 3,405 SHGs involving an amount of Rs 8.79 crore.
