Rain and rumours

While most welcomed the rain that lashed the city last week, it was not, however, without an underlying fear. The one rumour that made many skip a heartbeat was about the possible inundation threat to the Lower Tank Bund area. Some worried residents called up newspaper offices late in the night on Saturday, seeking a clarification as the telephones at control rooms, they said, failed to respond. But with the anxiety put to rest and the rain taking a break the next day, it was time for many to rush to the Hussain Sagar lake, which had reached its Full Tank Level making it a grand sight to watch.
