Hyderabad , July 17

THE Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC) has described the National Coal Wage Agreement as historic as it is significantly different from other similar wage pacts.

The Working President of INTUC and member of the National Coal Wage Board, Mr B. Venkat Rao, and Mr B. Janak Prasad, Senior General Secretary of INTUC in Singareni Collieries Company Ltd (SCCL), said that the new wage pact means that the coal mining employees would get benefits ranging from Rs 1,440 per month to Rs 2,576 per month.

Despite being under the Board of Industrial and Financial and Reconstruction (BIFR) purview, two coal companies, ECCL and ECL, have been covered under the wage pact. Normally, these companies would not have been covered by the wage pact, they added.
