The target for the financial year for the State has been put at Rs 6,401 crore. The Department collected Rs 4,790 crore last year as against a target of Rs 5,100 crore.

Addressing a press conference here on Monday, Mr D V Dharmik, Chief Commissioner of Income-Tax-I (Hyderabad), said the department had set up 30 help centres across the State to assist small taxpayers. Of these, eight came up in Hyderabad.

Mr Dharmik had taken over as the Chief Commissioner on Monday. "These centres would help them in computing their tax liabilities and all aspects related to Income Tax," he said. These centres had been set up in association with trade bodies and non-governmental organisations. They would initially work for three months.
