CHENNAI: One hundred aspiring dentists can study at Adhiparasakthi Dental College and Hospital, this year. The new college has received the approval of the Dental Council of India and the Union Government. The college, managed by the Adhiparasakthi Charitable Medical, Educational and Cultural Trust, is situated at Melmaruvathur on a 29-acre area. It will be affiliated to Dr. MGR Medical University and have separate hostels for boys and girls. The college will have 35 faculty members. There are 50 management quota seats and 50 seats under the single-window admission. The departments include biochemistry, physiology, anatomy, prosthodontics and conservative dentistry. The college is fully equipped with the latest equipment and laboratories. The annual fee is Rs. 1.1 lakhs and students have to pay a caution deposit of Rs. 25,000. The hostel fee is Rs. 35,000 and the bus fee from Guindy is Rs. 12,000. The college has a fully-functional dental hospital attached to the premises besides a 300-bed hospital operating in the area since 1987. According to Dr. T. Ramesh, managing director, the college will conduct regular health camps and frequent check-ups for residents in rural areas. Dr. G. Rathinakumar, will be the principal.
