Bangalore , July 20

POINTSEC, a mobile device security provider, expects to start offering technology support services to its Asia-Pacific customers from India soon.

"The company is in talks with a couple of Indian firms for outsourcing its operations that could happen over next three to six months," said Mr Sascha Beyer, Managing Director, Pointsec Mobile Technologies, West Asia and India.

"We have shortlisted three Indian firms," Mr Beyer said adding the initial tech support team would have some 30 people. The India tech centre, the third after the US and Stockholm, would cater to over 600 customers in India, South-East Asia and Japan, Mr Beyer said.

Pointsec, which entered India four months ago to sell its mobile security solutions, is bullish on the Indian market, especially on sectors such as the business process outsourcing, banking, financial services and insurance, pharmaceuticals and government.

Mr Beyer said there were doubts among clients elsewhere over the security situation in India in the IT sector. However, after studying the situation here he felt the security perception was high in the country, especially among those who had come from outside.

Pointsec, which develops security solutions for laptops, PDAs, smartphones among others, counts Wipro, ITC, Syntel as its customers in India, Mr Beyer said.
