40 applications seeking live band licence rejected

Staff Reporter

BANGALORE: The Police Commissioner, Ajai Kumar Singh, has rejected 40 applications of the 46 applications seeking licences for running live band joints.

The applications were rejected on the ground that the applicants had not followed the prescribed guidelines.

The remaining six applications are being scrutinised.

The Government, by a notification issued on May 23 this year, brought live band joints, discotheques and cabarets under the purview of public entertainment.

The Police Commissioner has been empowered to grant license considering aspects such as public interest, status and antecedents of the applicants, availability of parking place, impact on law and order, location of the bands to educational and religious institutions.
