Back Plastic units in Bengal poly park

Our Bureau

KOLKATA: About 30 small plastic units are expected to start operations in the poly park developed by the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation. The corporation, which has started procurement of land directly from owners, expects to add nearly 60 acres to the 42 acres it has purchased so far. By the end of the year, plots will be allotted in favour of industrial units proposed to come up in the park, said Mr Nirupam Sen, West Bengal's Industry Minister. Infrastructure facilities will be provided by end-2006.

It may be mentioned here that Indian Plastic Federation (IPF) had approached the corporation for providing land with built-in infrastructure.

The poly park will help create 9,000 jobs by way of direct employment, IPF has pointed out.
