CITU demands judicial probe into police action at Gurgaon

Staff Reporter

ALAPPUZHA: The National Council of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has demanded a judicial inquiry into the police action on employees of Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India at Gurgaon on Monday.

The Council meeting concluded here on Tuesday.

Speaking to presspersons here on Tuesday, CITU president M.K. Pandhe and general secretary Chittabrata Majumdar condemned the attack and said a judicial inquiry by a High Court judge from outside the Punjab and Haryana High Court be ordered immediately. Dr. Pandhe said the CITU would observe August 11 a `protest day' all over the country. Rallies of workers will be organised on the day.

Dr. Pandhe demanded that police officers responsible for the attack be suspended till the inquiry was completed. The CITU does not have faith in the magisterial inquiry ordered by the Haryana Government, which has taken an irresponsible stand on the issue. No Haryana Minister has visited the injured.
