Back AP Govt puts malaria toll at 7

VISAKHAPATNAM: The number of deaths due to malaria in the agency (tribal) area of the Visakhapatnam district is put at seven by the State Government.

Two persons died of the fever in Srikakulam and Vizianagaram districts and there are no deaths due to malaria in the West and East Godavari districts.

The official figures were announced by the Health Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, at a press conference here on Wednesday after reviewing the situation in the five coastal districts. "This time we have collected data from all sources and the figures are authentic," he asserted.

He addressed the press conference with the Principal Secretary (Health), Mr I.V. Subba Rao, and the Commercial Taxes Minister, Mr Konathala Ramakrishna.
