Cash, gold ornaments stolen from house

BANGALORE: Thieves broke into the house of a private company employee in Hennur police station limits and made away with Rs. 25,000 in cash and gold ornaments and electronic goods, together worth Rs. 75,000.

The police said the burglary took place at the house of Emanuel, a resident of Sabarinagar, when his family went to Kerala on Monday.

Emanuel, who returned on Thursday, found that the house was burgled, the police said.

Killed in road accident

Rajesh (19), a resident of OMBR Layout, was killed when a lorry hit his motorcycle near the Jakkur airfield around 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The police said Rajesh was a first PU student of Seshadripuram College in Yelahanka.

The Hebbal traffic police are on the lookout for the lorry driver who fled after the accident.

Caught

The K.R. Puram police in the early hours of Thursday caught two of the three men who allegedly felled a sandalwood tree in the ITI Colony and were taking away the logs.

The police said that around 2 a.m. they caught the men, identified as Puttappa (28) and Girish (30), both residents of Kadugodi. One of their accomplices managed to escape.

The police seized from them 10 kg of sandalwood.

Arrested

In another case, the Central Crime Branch (CCB) officials on Tuesday arrested Khaleel (30) of Kuppam in Chittoor district of Andhra Pradesh and seized from him 145 kg of sandalwood worth Rs. 2.50 lakhs.

The police said Khaleel was arrested when he was carrying sandalwood logs in gunny bags on Old Madras Road in the Krishnarajapuram police station limits.
