Ruth Misha claims under-19 title

BANGALORE: Ruth Misha bagged the girls under-19 singles title with a facile 11-6, 11-2 victory over Monisha Vinayak in the final of the Malleswaram Association's Platinum Jubilee State ranking badminton championship at the club courts here on Monday.

Ruth Misha also entered the women's singles semifinals beating Neha Manjunath 11-1, 11-0.

V. Amar, who was a semifinalist in the Union Bank all-India junior championship held here recently, made the men's singles semifinals with a 15-5, 15-6 win over Jagdish Yadav.

Another promising junior, M.D. Anup Kiran, shocked the seasoned B.R. Harish Kumar 10-15, 15-9, 15-8 in the quarterfinals.

Anup Kiran, however, went down to Shahank Achar in the junior boys singles quarterfinals at 3-15, 15-6, 13-15.

The results: Men's singles quarterfinals: Amar bt Jagdish Yadav 15-5, 15-6; Shashank Shastry bt P. Ashok 15-3, 15-7; Anup Kiran bt Hairsh Kumar 11-15, 15-9, 15-8.

Boys under-19 singles quarterfinals: Amar bt Arun Pemmiah 15-4, 15-1; Kamath bt B.S.Phalgun 15-1, 15-10; Shashank Achar bt Anup Kiran 15-3,6-15,15-13; Shaashank Shashtry bt K.B. Arun 15-9, 15-11.

Veteran's singles semifinals: Jayaram Pai bt K.P. Vasanth Kumar 17-16. Conceded; Ashok Raman bt Vinay Siddaraj 16-17, 17-15, 15-5.

Women's singles semifinals: G.M. Nischita bt C.M. Shwetha 11-2, 11-0; Monisha Vinayak bt Menaka 11-2, 11-0; Soumya Padhye bt Manavi Rao 11-8, 11-1; Ruth Misha bt Neha Manjunath 11-1, 11-0.
