10 per cent increase in salary for KSRTC drivers, conductors

BANGALORE: A 10 per cent increase in salary has been announced for drivers and conductors of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC).

The announcement was made by M.R. Sreenivasa Murthy, Managing Director of KSRTC, at an event to celebrate the organisation's 44th foundation day celebrations.

He also said that the ex-gratia payment for drivers and conductors of the KSRTC would be made soon.

Lauded

M. Mallikarjun Kharge, Minister for Transport, praised the KSRTC for its service to the people. But he stressed that the accident rate of the transport corporation needs to be reduced.

He was speaking after flagging off the upgraded version of Rajhamsa and air-conditioned Mayura buses.

Referring to the damage to the buses in stone throwing incidents during the demonstration by AITUC activists in Bangalore the other day in which some of the KSRTC and Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) employees also took part, he said such incidents lowered the image of the transport corporation in the public mind.
