AFTER a week of delays and disruptions, airline operations at Mumbai airport are limping back to normalcy.

Airline officials said that they expect flight operations to return to the normal schedule in a day or two if the weather does not deteriorate.

Indian Airlines will operate all its flights from Wednesday.

On Monday and Tuesday, the airline combined a number of flights to cope with the heavy rain and the resultant disruptions caused on account of that.

The airline, which normally operates 11 flights daily to Delhi, has reduced this to five.

Similarly, it has operated just two flights to Chennai against the normal four flights every day.

The number of services to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Kolkata has similarly been reduced, an airline spokesperson said.

Air-India has also announced that it will fly the full complement of 20 domestic and international flights from Wednesday.

Operations from Delhi will also operate as per the normal schedule, an airline spokesperson said.

Jet Airways, meanwhile, will stick to its scaled down schedule on Wednesday also.

According to Mr Peter Luethi, COO, the airline was on track to operate the 96 movements it had scheduled for Tuesday.

It normally operates 142 movements a day.

However, it operated all its international flights today, Mr Luethi said.

According to Mr Sudhir Kumar, Airport Director, operations have returned to normal and the backlog of flights has been cleared.

He added that the navigation equipment was also in serviceable condition.
