Power cut

CHENNAI: Power supply will be suspended in some parts of Pammal, Alwarpet, Agaram, Muthialpet, Padi, Korattur, Mylapore, Sowcarpet, Pudupet, R.K.Nagar, T.V.Pet, Porur, K.K.Nagar (east), Velachery, Mandaveli and Adyar on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for maintenance work.

Blood donation

About 500 students of Thiruninravur-based Jaya College of Arts and Science donated blood at a camp organised recently to celebrate the birth anniversary of Kamaraj.

Freshers' day

Students of S.S.Shasun Jain College for Women in T. Nagar celebrated ``freshers' day" recently. Dr.Venkat Venkatasubramanian of the Purdue Univeristy of USA spoke on "Globalisation — challenges and opportunities for Indian students."

TTD official meets Jayalalithaa

Thirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam executive officer A.P.V.N. Sarma called upon Chief Minister Jayalalithaa at the Secretariat on Thursday. Members of the advisory committee of the Devasthanam were present.

Trains to Mumbai

Train services to Mumbai are yet to be restored fully. According to a railway press release, train no 2164 Chennai Central - Dadar Express and train no 6010 Chennai Central - Mumbai CST Mail are cancelled on August 5.

However, the following trains leaving to and from Mumbai on August 6 are restored: Train no 2164 Chennai Central - Dadar Express, and train no 2163 Dadar- Chennai Central Express. Train nos 6012/6011 Chennai Central - Mumbai CST - Chennai Central Expresses will run to and from Pune only up to August 6.
