Labourer killed, three injured as portico collapses

BANGALORE: A labourer was killed and three were injured when the portico of a building under construction on Hosur Road caved in on Thursday.

The police said the incident occurred around 9 a.m. when the labourers were laying concrete for the portico of a private college building at Konena Agrahara in Hebbugodi police station limits.

As the scaffolding collapsed, four labourers were caught under it.

One of them, Rajkumar (20) of Tamil Nadu, was killed on the spot.

Of the three injured, Ram Singh (25) has been admitted in a private hospital and his condition is serious, the police said.

The Hebbugodi police have registered a case.

Four suffer burns

A couple and their two children suffered burns when a liquefied petroleum gas cylinder caught fire at their house in Krishnarajapuram police station limits on Thursday. The the incident occurred around 8 a.m. at the house of Ramesh at Kuvempunagar in Devasandra. Ramesh, his wife, Rama Devi, and their two children have been admitted to hospital.

Doctor attacked

Four men barged into a clinic on Tumkur Road and assaulted a doctor, Madhava Murthy, around 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday. Dr. Murthy has been admitted to hospital.
