Back IIM-B interim report on APSRTC soon

THE Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, on Tuesday asked the expert team from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Bangalore, to take up an in-depth study on the functioning of the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) and submit an interim report in the first week of October. The IIM-B team promised to submit the initial recommendations by October and the second and final suggestions in five months thereafter.

Dr Reddy said the expert team should suggest measures for speedy financial revival of the APSRTC and lay stress on cutting losses.

The IIM Bangalore team, headed by Dr Ravi Kumar, presented its opinion through a package titled `Holistic Organisational Transformation Strategy' for APSRTC.

The IIM has carried out similar tasks for the Karnataka Transport Corporation and the Delhi Transport Corporation.

The Minister for Roads and Buildings, Mr J. Ramamohana Rao; the Minister for Commercial Taxes, Mr Konathala Ramakrishna; the Chairman of APSRTC, Mr G. Prakasa Rao; the Principal Secretaries Finance Mr P Ramakanth Reddy and Mr I.Y.R Krishna Rao; the Principal Secretary Transport, Mr A.K. Tigidi; the MD APSRTC, Mr M. Krishna Rao; the Commissioner Transport, Mr Rajeswar Tiwari; and Prof Ramanayya and Prof Ramesh from IIM attended the meeting.
