Back Bhagyanagar Gas sets up CNG mother station in Vijayawada Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug. 23 BHAGYANAGAR Gas Ltd has announced the launch of a CNG mother station in Vijayawada. Bhagyanagar Gas (BGL) is a joint venture between GAIL (India) Ltd, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd and Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation. The Managing Director of BGL, Mr C.N. Trivedi, after inaugurating the CNG station, said it is expected to provide a cleaner environment. Mr Trivedi in a statement said, "This is part of BGL's commitment to reduce air pollution. The dream of turning Andhra Pradesh into a pollution-free green State is not too far considering the eco-friendly vision of the State Government and the support provided by all departments concerned to take measures to reduce vehicular pollution." The mother station, in Vidhyadharapuram, Vijayawada has a capacity of 1,750 cubic metre per hour and feeds two subsidiary stations in the city at Bhavanipuram and Ramavaraparu. GAIL has laid the pipeline for supply of natural gas from tap-off at Kondapalli village from the Lanco Kondapalli pipeline to BGL's Vijayawada city gas station. The Rs 20-crore project for laying the pipeline and the construction of the CNG station at Vijayawada was shared between GAIL and BGL. The total capital outlay for CNG conversion of public transport and the city-wide gas distribution network in Vijayawada is estimated at Rs 57 crore. BGL is negotiating with the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation for conversion of its fleet to CNG. It has also initiated dialogue with other commercial vehicle owners. BGL has installed CNG and auto LPG stations in Tirupati, Hyderabad and Vijayawada.
