Back NTPC to help State utilities improve generation efficiency Our Bureau
New Delhi , Aug. 23 NATIONAL Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) is working with various State utilities to improve operational efficiency at 12 power stations, a company release said on Tuesday. The Power Ministry has identified 26 power plants with plant load factor (PLF) lower than 60 per cent, and NTPC would undertake work at 12 of these plants, the release said. NTPC on Tuesday signed partnership agreements with five power stations, where the PLF would be improved within six to 12 months. The company would depute experts to improve the PLF to 60 per cent initially. The "Partnership in Excellence" scheme is part of the Ministry's Accelerated Generation and Supply Programme, aimed at maximising generation efficiency. NTPC is among the most efficient power utilities in the country, with average 85 per cent PLF, while the national average for coal-fired stations is about 75 per cent.
