Central law sought on admissions

BELLARY: Medical college students in the city took out a protest rally under the banner of the district unit of the All India Democratic Students' Organisation (AIDSO) here on Wednesday to pressure the Union Government to pass legislation on reservation of seats in professional colleges.

In a memorandum to the Minister for Higher Education, President of the district unit S. Pramod termed as therecent Supreme Court judgement on the issue as "shocking and anti-student."

He said the State Government should pressure the Union Government to pass a pro-people legislation to allot all seats in professional colleges on the basis of merit and fix a fee structure that is affordable to the common man.
