Back AP announces interest waiver relief for weavers

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government on Sunday announced waiver of interest dues from Weavers' Cooperative Societies, estimated at about Rs 36.99 crore, piled up from 1995.

This decision is expected to benefit about 600 out of 1150 co-operative societies.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, the State Labour Minister, Mr G. Vinod, said that the waiver of interest was one of the recommendations of the expert panel constituted by the State Government to study the weavers' issues. The panel headed by the State Finance Minister, Mr K. Rosaiah, submitted its report recently.

With regard to the support to APCO, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajashekhara Reddy, will take appropriate decision.
