Ganeshas galore at Garuda Mall

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: He is considered the God who removes obstacles and also the one who provides learning and wisdom and blesses scholars of all ages. Businessmen prostrate before him before undertaking new ventures and so do schoolchildren before going to write their exams.

More than 150 images of the elephant-headed God will be on display from September 2 to 4 at Garuda Mall, to be inaugurated by former police chief B.N. Garudachar. Senior musician Shayamala Bhave will be chief guest. Even if you want to skip that part, do go around the exhibition; the works are by a talented and imaginative young artist, Raghavendra Hegde. He has painted the images of Ganesha in mixed media, in all possible shapes, sizes and colours. A postgraduate in fine arts, Raghavendra has carved a niche for himself and won the National Award instituted by the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur. Recently, the artist gifted his work on the Bhagavad Gita concept to President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
