`Kadambi scholarship' for Phougat, Ganguly

BANGALORE: The Manipal Foundation on Sunday awarded the `Kadambi scholarship' to Ankita Phougat of Kasturba Medical College (KMC, Manipal) and Arijit Ganguly of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) for excellence in academics and sports.

The Kadambi family have instituted an endowment fund from which scholarships of Rs. 30,000 each are given to students who have demonstrated excellence in sports (with the exception of cricket) at the State or national level. Manipal Foundation manages the scholarship on behalf on Manipal Academy for Higher Education. H.S. Ballal, Vice-Chancellor, MAHE, handed over the scholarship to the students.

Speaking at the award function, Rajagopal Kadambi, trustee of the Kadambi Foundation, said: "the scholarship was set up to recognise outstanding achievements in sports and academics."
