BANGALORE: A. Balachandra of Rajhans Enterprises was unanimously re-elected President of Karnataka Offset Printers Association for 2005-07 at its annual general meeting held here recently. Mr. Balachandra, who spoke soon after the elections, said the focus will be on construction of the building to set up a world-class technology centre for development of printing industry on the land acquired at the Rajajinagar Industrial Town. He said the centre will provide an excellent opportunity for renowned manufacturers to display and demonstrate their latest technology and innovative products all through the year. According to a release from the association, Mr. Balachandra said such a demonstration will enlighten printers as a whole of the new innovations in the field and it will save their time considerably. Mr. Balachandra said the centre will be completed by next year and will be made operational by 2007.
Print Park
On some news reports which term printing units located in Bangalore as polluting units and that they will be shifted to Print Park to be set up 50 km. away from Bangalore, Mr. Balachandra said the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board has itself classified printing industry under "green category." He said big units operating in Bangalore are offset printers equipped with latest and upgraded printing presses besides supporting machinery.
