BANGALORE: A three-member gang assaulted and murdered a 31-year-old man in Muneshwara Layout in Rajagopalnagar police station limits on Sunday afternoon. According to the police, Nandakumar, the victim, was the brother of Babu, who is an accused in the murder of Vijay in Kamakshipalya police station limits in June. Seeking revenge for Vijay's murder, the assaulters allegedly attacked Nandakumar when he was coming out of his house. He was hit by machetes on his head, left hand, and face. Nandakumar's father, Shanmugasundaram, a goldsmith, was a witness to the incident. The injured Nandakumar was taken to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Merchant robbed
Three persons sprayed chilli powder on a cloth merchant and robbed him of clothes estimated at Rs. 11,000 at Maruthi Nagar in Madiwala police station limits on Sunday. According to the police, Imran, Shan Pasha and Sandeep, had come to the shop of Madesha on Saturday. Speaking Hindi, the three selected cloths and told the owner that they would take the clothes after paying the money on Sunday. When the three persons came on Sunday, the owner demanded money. One among the three threw chilli powder on Madesha before they escaped with the clothes. Madesha later lodged a complaint with Madiwala police station.
Burgled
The flat of an Indian Institute of Science (IISc) scientist was burgled and gold ornaments estimated at Rs. 4 lakhs and Rs. 10,000 in cash were taken away on Malleswaram 8th Main on Saturday evening. According to the police, Dr. Sukumaran, a scientist in IISc, and his wife, Radha, who runs a beauty parlour, left their house in Kasturba Apartment on Saturday morning. When both returned in the evening, they found the front door was opened.
Body found
The half burnt body of a 25-year-old man was found on Mahadevapura Ring Road on Sunday morning. According to the police, a few residents traced the body. The police have taken up a case of unnatural death.
