CHENNAI: The State Assembly observed a two-minute silence in memory of 13 former members of the House, as the session began here on Wednesday. Speaker K. Kalimuthu read out a condolence resolution and recalled the services of Munu Adhi, former Speaker, who passed away. Later, the House adjourned without transacting any business for the day. The session will be on till September 28. The first supplementary estimates will be presented during the session. This will be followed by a discussion. Finance Minister C. Ponnaiyan is expected to make a statement on compliance with the fiscal reforms programme, as required to be done every six months under the Fiscal Responsibility Act. As many as seven Bills are likely to be introduced during the session. Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam president M. Karunanidhi came to the Secretariat and signed the members' register in the morning.
