Back Chennai jeweller Tushaar Mehta passes away Our Bureau
Chennai , Sept. 27 MR Tushaar Mehta, trustee of Mehta Jewellery and a well-known jeweller in the city, died following a sudden cardiac arrest, early today. He was 58. He leaves behind his father, Mr Surendra Mehta, a pioneer in the diamond trade, wife and two sons. According to a press release, Mr Mehta was a postgraduate in Metallurgy from IIT Madras and a graduate in Gemology from GIA, US. He was the President of the Gold Club of Chennai, which worked closely with the World Gold Council in furthering trade in the city. A man of many facets, he was the Honorary Consul for the Czech Republic in Chennai. Mr Mehta was a Rotarian, a past National President of the Indian Jaycees and a cricket commentator on AIR.
