Back VIP unveils new brand identity — To step up adspend, retail presence

Mumbai , Sept. 27

UNVEILING a new brand identity after three decades, VIP Industries has introduced a new logo — the V Globe.

The Rs 305-crore luggage major has also embarked on a retail expansion drive and plans to launch nearly 70 more stores for its new range of luggage.

At a press conference, Mr Dilip G. Piramal, Chairman, VIP Industries, said, "The new stores will be company-owned and in addition to our existing franchise network. Since we are going upmarket with our offerings, our stores are expected to have a new ambience as well.''

Marking an investment of Rs 4 crore, the company intends adding another 47,000 sq ft of retail space as part of its expansion plans, which would be completed by December this year.

Explaining the new symbol for VIP, Mr Piramal said, "In V Globe, the ellipse represents world of travel, while the V represents joy and freedom from the stress of travel.The letters VIP, which represents trust, follows this. The full logo represents the VIP philosophy of joyful travel through thoughtful products.''

Unleashing a new campaign to highlight its products, VIP Industries has also stepped up its ad spends.

According to Mr Sunil Jatia, Managing Director, VIP Industries, "The company intends spending Rs 5 crore for its new campaign.''

Its ad agency Lowe, has designed a new baseline `Happy Journey' changing its earlier baseline `It's a different trip'.
