    CHENNAI: With the sensex rising rapidly by the day, D. G. Vaishnav College deemed it fit to hold a symposium to study the issue in detail. The departments of Commerce, Business Economics and School of Management organised a symposium on `Abnormal Reality: Rising Sensex, Rattling scrips - vital lessons' on Tuesday.

    Various topics such as `Sensex: 55 days 1000 points', `Shares Buying and Selling: Tips and Strategies' and `Share price reading and assessment: An analysis in the present context' were covered. Bharat Kumar K. Shah, college joint secretary, said that the topic was chosen based on its relevance and currency. He stressed the need for proper understanding of the market scenario.

    Capital markets

    T.P. Raman, Managing Director, Sundaram Asset Management Company, who was the chief guest, gave an overview of the Indian capital market, analysing each of the factors that affected the market.

    He explained the working of key drivers of the capital market .

    Corporates, government, procedures involved, financial or clearance systems and investors — each of these, in their own way, determine the functioning of a market, he said. "The market looks very promising and exciting. Informed decisions are being taken."

    Great enthusiasm

    There are enough wealth managers and advisors to help judge the scenario and there is great enthusiasm to multiply wealth.Though nobody could categorically say why markets boom, one could say that market looks more mature, predictable, organised and process-driven. he said. S. Narasimhan, vice-principal & head, Department of Economics said that experts from related fields were chosen to deliver lectures. D.N. Dass, Director, Madras Stock Exchange, M. Amarnath, Managing Director, Paterson &Co. and K.S. Krishnamurthy, D.G.M, IOB, were the speakers for the technical session that followed.
