Back Shortage props up rubber prices Our Correspondent
Kottayam , Sept. 30 SPOT rubber rates moved up sharply on Friday. Acute shortage of rubber continued to haunt the main marketing centres. Hectic buying from the north Indian sector and exporters pushed up ungraded rubber and ISNR 20 further. Moderate buying from the non-tyre sector was also visible, while the covering groups appeared to be chasing sheet rubber.
Futures lost on profit booking. October contract was quoted at Rs 63.50 (Rs 64.46), November at Rs 62.47 (Rs 63.16), December at Rs 62.35 (Rs 63.00) and January at Rs 62.55 (Rs 63.01) a kg for RSS 4. The physical rubber prices per kg were as follows: RSS-4: Rs 64.00 (Rs 62.50); RSS-5: Rs 62.50 (Rs 61.00); Ungraded: Rs 61.00 (Rs 59.00); ISNR 20: Rs 62.50 (Rs 61.50) and Latex 60%: Rs 42.00 (Rs 41.50).
