Hyderabad , Oct. 7 PROGRESS Software Corporation, the Nasdaq-listed company, has opened its India development centre here with an investment of about $2 million. The company plans to recruit more professionals and invest up to $6 million by next year. Mr Joseph Alsop, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Progress Software, said the company had seven development centres across the world, including one at Cambridge, UK, and Belgium. It has about 45 employees at the Hyderabad Centre that was inaugurated by the Andhra Pradesh Governor, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde. "Progress Software has been deployed in over 60,000 organisations with over three million users across 135 countries. The company has 2,000-plus application partners, and will now look at playing a larger role in India too with a sales force." Open Edge, Sonic Software, Data Direct and Real Time are the four divisions of Progress Software and the India development centre will work on all four. With revenues of $401 million, and several consecutive quarters of double-digit growth, the company sees the India centre playing a greater role in terms of bringing scale and also facilitating faster development of software across these four divisions, according to Mr Alsop.
